KIT-M / KIT-CA A fully portable alarm enhancement and extension system can be made up with the following devices; MIC-M (noise sensor with 10’ cable), DPX-M (time delay controller), XFORM-1 (wall transformer), PZ-M (remote buzzer), and a 40' plug ended cable to extend the PZ-M into the corridor. The DPX-M portable time delay controller is the heart of the alarm enhancement and extension system. The unit is supplied with a plug in 24 volt wall transformer and a power failure alarm battery clip. It will accept input signals from our Model : MIC-M noise sensor or an auxiliary "dry contact input" Once the DPX-M receives an input, an adjustable (0 to 30 seconds) time delay period starts. If this delay period is exceeded the "Output" jack closes enabling control over an external system (e.g.. Nurse Call system). Also the "Remote" jack supplies 20 volts DC to power our Model : PZ-M remote buzzer. The MIC-M is a noise "volume" sensing device. This means it must be mounted as close as possible to the source of the alarm signal, normally 1 to 2 inches. The sensitivity of the unit is set to a point that will turn on the red "Active" L.E.D. (normally 75-85% of max.). With a limited range setting external room noises will not be detected.
This system must be tested after each reinstallation and at regular intervals (preferably at the start of each shift). The mechanical integrity of these devices must be maintained to assure proper operation. All mounting hardware, cables, connectors and plugs must be regularly inspected for wear and tear. All devices must be securely mounted at all times. If a mounting situation arises that does not seem safe do not use the system!
